We want to start by saying how much we appreciate each of you who are joining us for our wedding in Frascati, Rome. We understand it’s a lot to ask and that there will be many who can’t make it but we are grateful for all of you either way.
As you’re making a big effort to come out and celebrate with us, we are not expecting any gifts. I know a lot of people say that, but seriously you do not need to get us anything! Your presence is more than enough.
We created this page to make sure everyone has all the information they need to get to and from the venue, to know what to expect and to make the most of their time there! The area is so beautiful and we know you’re going to love it.
Ciampino (Giovan Battista Pastine International) Airport is the closest airport to the venue. Ryanair fly here from Edinburgh and the flight time is around 3 hours. You can either book a package or book the flights and hotel separately.
We would recommend arriving the day before (6th August) but as the ceremony won’t start until 4pm you can also arrive on the day (7th August). The departure date is completely up to you! We will be at the venue from 5th – 9th August before heading on our minimoon but if you’d like to arrive before this date or leave after to make the most of your holiday then go for it!
Everyone is welcome to stay at the wedding venue which is a beautiful 16th century hotel called Park Hotel Villa Grazioli. There is another Villa Grazioli at the other side of Rome so make sure you book this one that is in Grottaferrata which is 5 minutes outside of Frascati. Alternatively you can stay nearby either in the Frascati/Grottaferrata area or in Rome which is a 30 minute train ride away.
Park Hotel Villa Grazioli can either be booked directly with the hotel as it now appears to be sold out on booking websites. The hotel has reserved some rooms for us at a rate of €140 per room per night including breakfast, you can email reception@villa-grazioli.it and quote Irons Wedding to book direct.
To get the best prices we recommend you book the hotel and flights as soon as you can, the hotel is also open to the public so the rooms may book up.
When you arrive at Ciampino airport you can get to Frascati/Park Hotel Villa Grazioli by getting the airport connect bus to Ciampino Train Station then travel one stop on the train to Frascati. You can then get a short taxi (5 minutes) from here to Park Hotel Villa Grazioli or to your chosen accommodation.
Alternatively you can get an Uber or taxi at Ciampino Airport directly to Park Hotel Villa Grazioli which takes around 25 minutes and costs between €30-€55.
Park Hotel Villa Grazioli offers a free shuttle bus into Frascati town centre and to Frascati train station (5 minute drive). There’s lots of nice pubs and restaurants in Frascati and you can also get the train into Rome from here (30 minutes). There’s a couple of options for getting tickets for transport if going into Rome, BIRG tickets can be purchased at Tabacchis (Tobacconists) in Frascati if heading into Rome. Make sure this ticket is for 3 zones, you’ll be able to use this to get to and from Rome and also use this on buses and metros while in Rome (valid for 1 day and costs €8 per ticket). Alternatively you can purchase single tickets at the train and metro stations for around €2.
The area around Frascati is called Castello Romani and there’s a lot of beautiful towns in this area if you fancy something closer and quieter than Rome but still very pretty. You can get return bus tickets (€4 return) from Tabacchis and visit the towns easily but make sure to check the bus times both going and returning as they can sometimes be infrequent.
If arriving on the 6th August, you’ll have a good opportunity to check out Frascati or head into Rome if you have an early flight. There is also a pool and pool bar at the hotel that we can enjoy during the day. We’ll then be hosting a wedding eve casual pizza dinner at Park Hotel Villa Grazioli at 7pm for everyone.
Welcome drinks will start at 3:30pm on the 7th August in the front garden of Park Hotel Villa Grazioli followed by the ceremony at 4pm inside the venue in the Pannini Gallery.
After the ceremony, aperitifs and canopies will be offered outside in the garden terrace followed by speeches, dinner and dancing.
An open bar will be available for 4 hours once the dinner has finished.
For the final hour of the wedding (12am -1am) we will move inside for more dancing where there will be a cash bar available.
Checkout from Park Hotel Villa Grazioli is at 10:30am, if you are leaving on this day you may want to head into Frascati, check out the surrounding towns, go into Rome or lounge by the pool where we will most likely be! We have no set plans on this day so everyone can enjoy the area in their own way.
Normal summer wedding vibes but remember it will be hot so dress light. There’s also some gravel and grass so watch those heels! The outside terrace has air conditioned gazebos in case of extreme heat or rain but hopefully by the evening we will have a comfortable temperature.
